About Simply_me_kim

Hello,

My name is Kim, I am thirty-one, single, and I have no children. I live in Central Texas. Two weeks ago I was admited into the hospital for a tooth infection. I found out that you can actually die from a tooth infection and or abcess, its called blood poisioning. I was close to having it.  If I had waited longer to go to the emergancy room I might not be here.

They sent me home with antibiotics and heavy pain killers. I was told to see a dentist right away. I have no insurance and I am currently unemployed. My shoulder limmits me to only working certain jobs. At sixteen I was in an accident that severed the main artery in my right arm.

I have contacted many different dentists. I can't afford to be seen. I don't qualify for any medical assistance because I am not considered disabled, and I am over twenty-five, and I have no children. There are two free clinics here. There are only open a limited amount of time, and when they are it takes hours of standing in line to be seen, if you are seen. They may not take me because I live in a different city. The free clinic will only remove one tooth per year.

In the hospital I was seen by an oral surgeon. He told me I needed three teeth removed and that two of them were infected. I also need twelve teeth worked on, and my wisdom teeth removed. He wouldn't help me beyond that.

I'm not sure what to do. I've called so many different places trying to get help. It seems like no one will, or can help. I'm in pain every day, my diet is very limited to soft foods, when I smile I cover it. When people see my teeth they judge me for them and not me. I'm ashamed.

I am engaged to a wonderful man. He has two children that he has to pay child support for. He is diabetic. We can't afford his test strips, we can barely afford his medication. He hasn't seen a doctor since he was diagnosed at an ER.

We are good people, we didn't ask for this. He is a good father, he works just for us to survive. I'm going to college to better our lives... I'm just not sure what to do anymore...

These are my teeth, the hole in the upper corner is actually my infected tooth broken in half.

This is a picture of me after my second trip to the ER before the third when I was finally admited to the hospital. My entire right face is swollen, by the time they had addmited me my right eye was almost swollen shut.

I recently found out I'm six weeks pregnant. I just moved from Alabama to Ohio to be with the baby's father. We both attend college at Ohio University and live with his mother. Our only income is the money he makes at a movie store, which doesn't cover half our bills. I hate asking for money but we are dirt poor right now and I'm worried we won't be able to provide for our baby. The father wants to quit college and work two jobs, but he's a severe diabetic and he has been denied disability. If anyone can help me, I would be so grateful.

Diabetes

I have been living with diabetes for several years now. I found out I was diabetic back in 2004. At first I really just ignored this health concern. Not a great thing to do! Because of depression I rarely took care of myself as one should. And truly didnt start until 9 months ago when I met the love of my life online.

Today I am truly blessed to be alive. The first major health hospitilization..I had not been checking my blood sugar levels as I should have been. I was drinking cans of coke left and right and eating poorly. I woke in the middle of the night freezing my tooshy off. I woke to find I had wet the bed. Now I had a good bladder and no issues with my bladder. The fact was.... I just had some much sugar in my urine that it had to release whether I was intended for it or not. Also my levels had been running over 300. Normal levels for me per docter and my weight were 100-130. My level during this time was spiking over 600 because my glucose meter could not even read them. I had been running high for several weeks and only on pills for the diabetes. I was hospitalized for a week until my levels were down to normal in a controllable level. I was also put on insulin at this time.

Some people new to diabetes in their life may not realize there are some important keys to maintaining proper blood glucose levels.....

     1. YOU MUST EAT! You see i only ate once or twice a day. For your body to properly produce insulin and to properly utilize it into your body cells it must be nurished several times a day. This is why you are told to eat more often. 3 healthy meals and 3 healthy snacks. I am not one for maintaining diets as far as counting calories. I dont even count my carbs anymore.  However I do use the chart that shows samples of appoximate food serving sizes on your plate. And I do use a simple guideline chart that instead of tellling me the carb number gives me a idea of how much I can have of the foods I like. One big thing I have learned is....if i need a non nutritional food, just have a strong craving for it. Then I eat it in a small reasonable portion. Because if I don't the craving grows and I would pig out. That is not wisable for any diabetic. The fact is there are simple ways to ensure a healthy diet without being a diet freak and implementing smart choices with the foods available to you. I say "available to you" because I am poor like alot of us and this leads to buying cheap non nutritional foods because that is all you can afford.

     2.  STRESS is a high factor in our blood sugar levels. For me, the more stressed and or depressed I am the higher my levels shoot, or they become speratic and rise and lower to much and too fast. So make sure you have or find an outlet for stress. Find something enjoyable to do if you feel stressed and your levels are acting speratic and changing alot.

     3. DONT AVOID THE DOCTOR.  If you dont like your doctor find a one that you do. You MUST seek and maintain regular doctor appointments. And if you are like me without insurance this is no excuse to avoid seeking health care treatment. You can find a near by (nearest to you) free health clinic. Some go  by your income some are completely free. If this is not a choice for you please go talk to the financial department of your local doctors offices. One connected with your local hospital is best for this. Most will try to work with you knowing that you must have medical care. They will give you referals as well as can defer payments and you pay what you can while you go. Yes that would entale you having a bill add up. But what is more important...Letting a bill rack up while you maintain being healthy and alive OR you dieing because you did not maintain any needed care. Your local hospital nutritionist can also help. I have recieved help with insulin, needles, and free meter and testing supplies. As well as referals to local and national organizations who help cover the complete cost of my medicines and diabetic supplies.

A few resource links I have used on regular basis are listed below at bottom of the page.

About Simpleman52

Hello Folks,  I come to you as a father of four little children.  Their mother and I divorced and she chose to move them and herself to Puerto Rico (her homeland).  I agreed and chose to also move there to be the daddy that I am suppose to be for them.  I left my job of eighteen years and a stable lifestyle to start afresh in a new country.

After shipping my few possessions and my plane fare, I was left with just enough to rent a small home and pay for the utilities to be turned on.  I searched for work and for the first four months I could not find anything.  I sold everything I had of value to pay the rent, utilities, and food.  I am diabetic and also had to pay for my insulin until I could get medical assistance. I did get food stamps of $90  a month but, they were cancel when I start working two months ago.  I make $600 a month part time as a cook.  That has been the only job I could find due to the recession and the region where I live.  I had thought about moving to another area but, they are all too expensive for me to afford and besides, I would be further away from my kids defeating the purpose of me coming here in the first place.

Presently, my electricity is two months behind. I owe the landlady $50 more for this past month's rent and the next rent is due on July 3rd.  My old $200 car needs work on the front wheels but, I am still driving it to work until I can afford to fix them.  I am not sure how much it will cost but, I will eventually have to get the work done or the car will be inoperative.  It's inspection, tag and insurance will also expire at the end of this month as well and that will cost me approximately $200 to renew.  Here in PR when you renew your tag you pay for the insurance for the year too.  I have little food and I have no propane to cook with.  Fortunately, I work as a cook, so I can eat at my job on the days I am working.  I have no a/c or hot water in my home.  The mosquitoes are terrible.  The house is concrete but, the roof is in bad shape.  When it rains, water pours in streams in the bathroom and the living room.

I am blessed that I now can spend more time with my children than when I lived in the states and the quality of their life is much better in that respect.  I don't have money to buy them anything and for last Christmas I sold my wedding ring to get them presents.  I love my children so very much and want to stay here to help raise them like it should be with both a mom and a dad.  She is asking for support now and I am trying to pay her $150 a month which is not a lot but, it goes real far here in PR.  I give her what I can.

If Anyone can send anything, it would be really appreciated. Even if it is a donation of $1.00, it would help.  I have never asked anyone for help before but, I feel that for the sake of my children having their daddy nearby in their lives it is worth it to me to ask for help.  For each donation, I will send a thank you letter.  Please send your donations to Ernest Meyerhoff, Calle E #30 Interior, La Playa Salinas, Puerto Rico  00751   Thank you!   I also have a paypal account if you prefer to help that way too.

Hello, I am sooo embarrressed to discuss this, But i have to taslk to someone about it.  My teeth are a disaster.  We I was working, we had "dental insurance", bbut it was more of an hmo setup than anything. Now, I know we are suppose to take care of the only teeth we have, but i guess my phobia for dentists got worse as i aged...thinking that I'll get tto the root of the problem one day. My job paid descent wages, but at that time, I reapplyed to a new dentist near my home. i saved $ 1,000.00 to at least to sstart the cleaning process, and to repair a frontt tooth cap that decided to grow a mind of its own. It was growing upward, and my smile was forever gone. I talk to people for a living, but who will hire  a mush mouth with a good sense of humor, while i can just imagine the horror on people's faces when they see me talk. I've trried all the tricks, keeping my mouth bearly open to talk, but at times the view is horryfing. Since my job is no longer available (I was a court researcher) my job left me go after 11 years of dedicated sevice.  Now, all of are clients can go and do their own court opinions, except when the need certified copies of documents.  I ffigure i can compete with document retrival services, but I would need to meet new prrospective clients, and the minute I open my month dollar ssihns fly away.

When i was growing up in the early sixties, my single mother (god rest her soul) never took me and my siblings to the dentist. I had some major work done in, after my daughter was born in 1980, at the USC Dental School. It was a recession going on, and my teeth were in dire need of work then.  So, the county of Los Angeles invested  in massive cleaning, fillings, and two beautiful front caps....the first one on my right side broke as I was eating a plum one day.  At that moment, i was planning a trip down to Daytonia Beach for three weeks to work with this private investigator to locate missing heirs. Luckily, my girlfriend at the time paid the bill which was around $360.00. The left cap was still strong and beautiful 13 years of use. Now my dilema, after 29 years of faithful service, and the same of idiotic neglient. I haaave a smle of a gremlin, no money, depressed, diabetic, aand am in need of some guidence.  Thank you for your time.

My Mom is going to die if she does not get surgery. In the past 5 years she has developed high blood pressure, diabetes and the doctors are constantly running tests to see what's makin her sick all the time. She was in the hospital in october of 08, she almost died then... She said she had severe pain in her stomach. Her white blood cell count was 12000 (I believe. I could be wrong on that number. The doctor just said she had a really bad infection somewhere but they didn't know where) She spent 6 days on 2 different iv antibiotics. They removed her appendix but it was perfectly normal. They never found out what was wrong with her. Since then she has been really sick and in a lot of pain. My Mother is a counselor. She has worked in psychiatric hospitals, she's worked with foster kids, and drug addicts in jail. Her heart is huge and she touches peoples lives everyday. Every where she's worked weather it was with a guy who was suicidal, a child who was severely abused, or a drug addict, She's always managed leave an imprint in their memory.... saved lives if you will. She's a phenominal woman. I'm not askin for much from anyone. A dollar is better than nothin. Right now we are aiming for the Lapband surgery and hope this helps her health.

http://www.lapband.com/get_informed/about_lapband/how_it_works/

That's a website explaining what it is. She has Bluecross Blue Sheild for insurance and they won't cover the surgery, even if life threatening. It's about $15,000. I'm currently working on a website for her, it will include her whole story, pictures, and documents from her doctor. I will be back to repost with the website information.

My Mom is much too young to be so sick. She's touched so many lives... I'm hoping someone will touch hers. Please help me save my moms life. And please don't mistake this for cosmetic surgery. This is for her health, for her life.

You may e-mail me at chele61636@gmail.com for more information or to share your story with me. Please keep her in your prayers.

Update:

As of lastweek they finished doing tests to find out where her tumor is. They have found a surgeon to take it out, and she should be okay. But it is brain surgery.. so we are both a little scared. The good part is she shouldn't need the lapband, her diabetes and weight gain should go back to normal.... we will see :) Thanks for all who kept us in their prayers!

Note: This aidpage was started as a comment on "Aidpage of CSRamm63"

My name is Christine and I am a 43 year old woman who is in need of financial assistance with dental work. I went to the dentist today (08-14-06) and they said with my MEDICAID. I would have to pay 2000.00 to get the repairs done. I have a cracked and decaying front tooth and other teeth that have fallen out or are failing from gum disease. I have been fighting with health issues such as COPD, Severe Diabetes and healings for years. I have recently been diagnosed with Liver Disease and i feel tired alot. I gained weight and hurt my liver alot from Depakote and hate to immediately stop the medication. The withdrawls were hell. I became to very tired. I just get to feeling better and I notice my tooth had cracked and now am in pain. I do suffer from neuropathy in the legs, but I will live with that if I have to. I do not want to have an ugly smile or no tooth. Please, if anyone can help financially for me to have my dental work done. I went to Coastal Dental in Port Richey, FL. They are the only ones that take the medicaid plan I am on and I give this as permission for anyone who is willing to help pay to verify the amount needed to do the work. I have given all of myself to others and now I am falling apart. I am looking for my angel. I am willing to advertise by always wearing a company t-shirt. The ompany would need to supply the shirts. Tattoos are even an option. Willing to negotiate for companies. Would be more cool to just find an angel. Serious Agels Only.

NEED HELP WITH BILLS

My wife to be doesn't work, and hasn't for a year now. We have a new baby (born 7-6-05). We only owe a total of $4600 between the both of us. I need to get my car running and registered/ insurance. All the bill collectors want all of thir money now. I'm falling behind, trying to juggle bills and get us out of debt. I pay 12 different bills a month. I am a insulin dependent diabetic 25yrs old with no heath insurance. I need a loan or grant to help me get back to normal. Stressed Out over BILLS. Nobody will give me a loan because I haven't had a loan before...well, I've never needed one this bad. I grew up feeling poor, growing up in a broken disfunctional home. I've never been on a vacation, but I won't miss a day of work. I am trying to make a good life for my wife and child, and I'm soooo close to getting it.
